An early 20th century silver and gold, cultured pearl and diamond brooch. The old and rose-cut diamond, pierced leaf, with central cultured pearl highlight. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 1 to 1.50cts. Length 4cms. Total weight 16.4gms.

Condition Report

Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Brooch with later alterations, signs of soft solder visible to reverse and near pin. Diamonds fairly well matched. Diamonds fairly bright.

Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

Cultured pearl is a creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones, in good condition with minor abrasions.

Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if the cultured pearl is from a fresh or saltwater source. Cultured pearl estimated diameter 7.5mms. Chevron shape surmount electronically tests as 12ct gold. Brooch pin electronically tests as 14ct gold. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
