An early George II sterling silver snuff box, London 1729 by Edward Cornock (this mark reg. 25th Nov 1723) Of oval form with a pull off lid with moulded edge. Fully marked to base edge, makers mark and lion passant to interior of lid. Length – 10.2 cm / 4 inches Weight – 95 grams / 3.05 inches Cornock appreciated to Henry Grant on the 9th Feb 1698, first mark entered as a largeworker 14th July 1707. Working at Gutter lane 1723-1731, a specialist maker of tobacco boxes
