An early George III Scottish silver pedestal sauce boat.

An early George III Scottish silver pedestal sauce boat, the oval ogee shape body with gadroon detail to rim above chased floral swags to sides and engraved crest below the lip, with a leaf capped scroll handle and raised on an oval foot with further gadroon border. Hallmarked Edinburgh 1762? with maker's mark MK, possibly James McKenzie I. Overall length 8.25" (21cm) and height 5.5" (14cm), weight 11.09 ozt (344.8 grams).

Condition Report:
- Displaying general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Some slight knocks and dints around the gadroon rim and also around the edge of the lip.
- A couple of rim splits visible at weak spots and some likely repairs. Residues of dirt visible.
- Slight impression from the join of the oval foot, visible to the interior base. Also some minor surface nicks and pitting marks in the same area.
- Possible repairs around the lower join of handle to main body.
- Floods of solder visible around the join of the oval foot to the body, seen on the underside.
- Stands firm on its foot.
- Hallmarks located to the underside of the body and these are clear and legible.
