An early George III silver coffee pot.

An early George III silver coffee pot, the plain baluster body initial engraved to one side within a floral wreath and raised on a circular footed base with gadroon border, with further gadroon decoration to the domed and hinged lid, foliate motifs to the spout and a stained wood handle within scroll mounts. Hallmarked London 1769, maker's mark partly worn possibly 'I.M'. Maximum height including finial measuring 10 5/8 inches (27 cm), gross weight 23.71 ozt (737.4 grams). In poor condition. Displaying quite heavy tarnishing and staining to some areas and surface wear, marks and scratches throughout. Many surface dints and bumps. Several heavy repairs are visible, around the join of the base to the foot rim and a circular repair patch just below the join of the handle to the lower body indicating possibly not the original handle. Further repairs around the hinge pins to the handle mounts and repairs or replacement finial to the lid. Blue marker pen to the underside with the date 1769. Hallmarks are rubbed and partly worn.
