An early Sorgenthal porcelain jug formed as a canopic jar
Original lid with lotus flower finial. The face, neck, and hands painted to imitate bronze, the chest with a large trapezoid reserve containing pseudo-hieroglyphs and with a border of stylised flowerheads on brown ground. The gilt handle formed as coiled snakes. Blue bindenschild mark, year stamp 94, black 7. for Josef Ockowalsky, potter's mark U for Kaspar Hartmann. H 21 cm.
