An early Victorian large silver toasting fork, of plain tapered form with three prongs and suspension loop to the terminal. Hallmarked London 1837, maker's mark slightly distorted possibly John James Whiting. Maximum length inclusive of loop measuring 18 6/8 inches (47.6 cm), gross weight 4.6 ozt (143.2 grams). In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Visible solder repairs around the join on the prongs. The prongs are slightly worn with minor bumps and nicks. Maker's mark slightly distorted possibly John James Whiting, other hallmarks clear, no partial hallmarks to the stem or terminal, only marked to the prongs.
