An early to mid-19th century Indian Colonial caster, Calcutta circa 1830-40 by Hamilton and Co Of faceted baluster form upon a faceted pedestal foot, the rim with a decorative band of fruiting vine, the pull off domed lid surmounted by a ball finial. The lid with chased scalloped edge with drill pierced holes. The body with chased decoration of flower head and stylised foliage against a textured ground. The side engraved SALT. Gilt interior. Marked to the foot rim edge with maker’s mark H&Co, elephant, and a Roman capital A. Height – 9.1 cm / 3.6 inches Weight – 144 grams / 4.63 ozt
