An early twentieth century silver travelling communion set.

An early twentieth century silver travelling communion set, including a chalice, paten and flagon (missing lid), each of plain circular form, contained within a fitted case with applied silver presentation plaque to the top. Hallmarked Haseler Brothers (Edward John Haseler & Noble Haseler), Chester 1911. Height of chalice measuring 3 2/8 inches (8.3 cm), gross weight 3.4 ozt (106.4 grams). In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The plaque on the case is engraved 'Farnworth Parish Diocese of Liverpool Presented To The Rev. H. Norman Bache. B. A with the esteem & affection of the parishioners in appreciation of 5 years happy work in the parish August 1912'. Significant losses and wear to the fitted case which is exposing the wood with some discolouration/staining to the lined interior. Maker's mark slightly rubbed in places, other hallmarks clear and legible on the three pieces, hallmarks rubbed and worn on the presentation plaque.
