An enamel and hairwork cross pendant, circa 1810 The Latin cross, formed from oval and circular discs with glazed compartments containing hair, two with black enamel borders, the reverse engraved with names and dates, two glazed compartments deficient, length 8.2cm The reverse of the pendant lists the seven children of John Bligh, Fourth Earl of Darnley, and his wife Elizabeth Brownlow (d. 22 December 1831). Of the seven children only four reached adulthood, including Lady Elizabeth Bligh (1800-1872), who later became Elizabeth Brownlow and whose mourning lockets are contained amongst the proceeding lots.
