dating: Late 15th Century provenance: Spain, Complete with cuissards, knee-cops and jamb, in iron, decorated with mounts in engraved brass foil. Two-plated lunette, first is hemmed at the border and with three, curved gleanings, the second cusped in the center, ribbed cuissard and with big brass plate in the upper part and along the external border, where there is a lateral plate, fixed with two hinges. Four-plated knee-cops and with large wing, decorated with a big, brass heart, the gaiters plate is cusped, with border plated with brass foil and with two stamps (one with a cross, the other not completely visible). Jambs in two pieces, ribbed front plate, lower border plated with brass foil. Well visible blow marks on the internal part. The shape looks just like that of the 15th-century Italian full-leg defense, the engraved brass applications and stamps, however, suggest Spanish or French origins.See 'Notes on the Armor worn in Spain from the tenth to the fifteenth century', by James. G. Mann, London, 1933, page 296, plate 88, nr. 3.Provenance: Roselius Haus Museum, Bremen, Germany height total circa 96 cm.
