An illuminated Ottoman prayerbook ('Anam Sharif), Turkey, signed Suleyman Serpusizade, dated 1166AH/1753AD, 66ff., Arabic manuscript on paper, with 11ll. of fine black naskh per page, surah titles in red, with floral gold and polychrome header to opening folio, in original brown morocco binding with gilt and tooled medallion and spandrels, folio 14.6 x 10cm. Suleyman Serpuszade was originally from Edirne, Turkey. He lived part of his life in Istanbul near the mosque of Sultan Selim. His master was the famous calligrapher Hafiz Mustafa Efendi, known as Celebi Imam (d. 1719) who studied under Yusuf Rumi who studied under the master Hafiz Osman (d. 1689).
