An impressive Victorian yellow metal, enamel and diamond set...
An impressive Victorian yellow metal, enamel and diamond set floral brooch. The flower head centred with an old mine cut diamond in raised claw setting, approx. 0.5ct, and framed by five petals, each set with three further old mine cuts. The flower itself set within a circular guilloche enamel frame, accented by five diamond centred stars. The flower head approx. 3.5ct total diamond weight, the frame approx. 0.5ct total diamond weight. Brooch length, 40mm. 20.4g.
Condition Report: Unmarked. All stones in flower head are well matched and bright. They are also all present, secure, and free from damage. Diamonds set within frame are also all present, one small rose cut appears to have a tiny chip, but this is not obvious or visible without a loupe. The brooch clasp is sadly broken. This brooch appears to have been made from two pre-existing pieces, as when turned over, both elements show signs of previous fittings. The circular frame has a small broken bail which presumably once suspended a drop, but is now covered by the flower head. None of these features are visible from the front. There is surface wear to the metal as expected, but no losses to the enamel.
