An impressive pair of George III Irish silver pedestal sauce boats, each of deep bellied oval form with applied bead rim above an engraved armorial below the lip depicting a lion rampant within a diamond and foliate scroll surround, the tall reeded loop handle with central acanthus and bead detail, and the whole raised on a short stem with stiff leaf band and further beading to an oval foot with acanthus leaf border. Hallmarked Dublin 1780, maker's mark R.W and tentatively attributed to Richard Williams. Height including handle 7.75" (19.5cm), weight 46.38 ozt (1442.7 grams).

Condition Report:
- Both of heavy gauge and appear in good overall condition.
- Both displaying expected surface wear and tarnishing, also general contact marks, scratches and nicks, commensurate with their age and use.
- Both with some very slight dints and uneven surface, mainly seen to interiors. Also some pitting marks.
- Slightly visible seam line at the point where the handle section joins the rim, mostly seen to interior, but also to exterior on one example.
- This same example appears to have floods of solder, seen on the underside of the base inside the foot. And some small gouges to foot rim.
- Both with some surface rubbing and slight loss of detail to areas of the foliate decoration but generally ok overall.
- Beaded borders appear in good order, some slight flattening, particularly to bead detail of handles.
- Engraved armorials also appear in good order and retain much detail.
- Hallmarks located below the rim on one side, these heavily rubbed in parts but still legible.
- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
