An oak bible box on stand, late 17th century and later, the hinged lid above the vacant compartment, the stand with turned supports united by stretchers, 86cm high, 72cm wide, 41cm deepProvenance: Berwick House, ShropshireCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,Some chips and losses, old splits and cracks,The box is attached to the base, these did not start out together, the box looks to be largely late 17th century the stand probably late 19th century, they are screwed togetherThe metalware appears to be the original, there are marks consistent with their placement, there is no internal lock mechanism - only the plate remains.
