An onyx and diamond brooch and a gem-set butterfly brooch, circa 1890
1st: 19th century composite, the oval onyx plaque set with three rose-cut diamonds, to a scrolling openwork surround with cherub detail and similarly-cut diamond accents, 2nd: The wings set with rose-cut diamonds, with a seed pearl thorax and abdomen, the eyes set with circular-cut rubies, mounted in silver and gold, one diamond deficient, 1st: later brooch fitting with indistinct assay mark, lengths: 1st 5.2cm, 2nd 2.4cm (2)
