An opulent Silesian cut glass goblet
Round base with matte tendril motif supporting a faceted baluster-form shaft and cup with protruding base. Depicting two allegories inscribed in Latin between scrollwork cartouche motifs, small landscapes and hunting scenes. With two minor rim chips. H 19.5 cm.
Schreiberhau (Szklarska Poręba), attributed to Preußler Glassworks in Weißbach, 1720s.
The hands extending from clouds are framed by a band inscribed "ContaXIt IVtner ConstantIs foeDVs aMorIs" (the capital letters add up to form the date 1723). The crown above the clasped hands is inscribed "HoC foeDVs faVstVM nVnC praegenis approbatannVs" (the capitals here adding up to a date of 1725).
