An over-and-under M1768 carbine by Früwirth in Vienna
Octagonal over-and-under barrel set, the upper one rifled with seven grooves, the lower one with smooth-bore, calibre 14.8 mm. The upper barrel marked “Jos Früwirth in Wienn”, the tang numbered “13”. Flat flintlocks. Slightly carved walnut full stock with plain brass furniture and patchbox on the right side. Length 105 cm. Joseph Frühwirth (1722–1798) is recorded as court gunsmith from 1758 onwards.
