An unusual William and Mary green japanned copper tripod table
late 17th century
with gilt-decoration, the embossed copper top of shell outline on a compound baluster octagonal stem and scrolling tripod legs
75cm. high, 61cm. wide, 47.5cm. deep; 2ft. 5 1/2in., 2ft., 1ft. 6 3/4in.
Condition Report:
The top with dents, old marks and prangs, screw holes and ring marks and the residue of polish. Historic worm. Old marks and scratches to japanned surface varnish and layers of japanning. Losses to gilding. The stem with wear. Losses to 'buttons' on legs, cracks to scrolls on legs. Some redcoration, possibly although generally original.. Craqulure to varnish.
