An unusual theatre Great War long service medal group of 4 to a Quarter Master Captain who served for 18 years before being Commissioned in 1914. 1914-15 Star medal, unnamed copy, British War and Victory medals, correctly named, Q.M. & CAPT F.W. CROOK”, Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal, EVII, correctly named, “25265 Q.M. SJT: F.W. CROOK R.E.”. Awarded his Long Service medal In Army Orders April 1909, Frederick Crook served for 18 years and 328 days prior to being Commissioned on 17th October 1914. He served in Sierra Leone from 2nd November 1914. His Medal Index Card indicates that he is eligible for the 1914-15 Star but does not show that the medal was issued.
