Ancestor figure (1) - Bronze - Nigeria - Early 20th century
KOMA ancestor statue The KOMA people still live isolated and protected, on the highlands of the ATLANTICA mountains, neighboring the VERE and CHAMBA. Like the latter, they are remarkable blacksmiths, both for iron and bronze. The style of their works is particularly recognizable. Here is a small bronze statue, representing the spirit of a protective ancestor, carrying a small offering tray on his head. On close examination, one cannot but marvel at the mastery of lost wax casting. Provenance : Private Belgian collection Certification on request Shipping : Insured, tracked and traced Pick up possible at our gallery in Brussels (Sablon)
