Reliquary figure Eyema Byéri Fang Benga Equatorial Guinea. Wood, brass, glass bead, nails, resin and remains of human hair. Height: 620mm 3265g Early twentieth century, (perhaps older) . Offered by my brother then Africa Digital Director between 1976/2000. Personal collection since 1985. Colissimo shipping with insurance. This figure representing the image of the family ancestor was originally attached to a box of sewn bark containing relics. This figure is a very beautiful sculpture with a deep and thick dark patina in places. It is in perfect condition and is similar to the one entered in 1881 at the Fur Volkerkunde museum in Hamburg.
