Antique wood sculpture from the early 19th century. “Gesù Bambino di Praga” An extraordinary sculpture carved in walnut wood depicting the Infant Jesus of Prague. The sculpture has glass eyes and is a rare example of the Child in a precious and beautifully crafted version. Among the countless evidences of this veneration, the most famous is the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague, donated to the Carmelites of that city in 1628 by Princess Polissena Lobkowitz. It depicts Jesus Child in royal clothes and with the royal insignia in the act of blessing thus highlighting, together with the true humanity of Christ, also his divinity The statue is in good condition. Measurements: Height 30 cm, width 21 cm.
