Ancient Bankoni Star Gazer Sculpture 14th-16th Century Africa

A rare and fascinating relic of a anthropomorphic sculpture from the Bankoni Culture, Mali. The remains of a statue with head arched back , eternally gazing at the heaves, mouth open in a dramatic fashion, with losses to the arms and bottom of sculpture. The relic dates to the Bankoni, likely 14th - 16th Century AD. The fragment measures 8.5 x 5 inches, 10 inches tall on the display stand. Mali, West Africa.
