Central Asia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A wonderful pottery pitcher comprised of a globular body, a cylindrical neck, and a tubular handle joining rim to shoulder - all upon a ring base. An extensive and intricately painted decorative program comprised of a black-on-red geometric motifs covers the surface, even extending to the interior of the rim. White mineral deposits further contribute to its charm. Size: 6.5" W from handle to opposite end x 7.25" H (16.5 cm x 18.4 cm)
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
