Ancient Chinese Ceramic - Large rider and horse - warrior - Tang Dynasty 618/907 AD - intact - h 49 cm

Very nice example of a grey ceramic statue from ancient China featuring a warrior om a armoured horse. The horse stands motionless, its head raised. The body is painted with red pigment and the armour has a relief decoration. The rider is straight, slightly bending back. He holds in his hands two hammers with short handles. He wears armour and a large moustache; he is wearing a lion's head. The rider is removable and shows traces of polychromy China, Tang dynasty, (618-907 AD) Height: 49 cm - Length: 42 cm In perfect condition, without any restoration. Provenance: United Kingdom, W&H.
