Ancient Chinese, Han dynasty Terracotta A Masterpiece.A Rare Large Painted Grey Pottery Figure of a Female Dancer, TL test, H- 55 cm. - 55 cm

A Rare Large Painted Grey Pottery Figure of a Female Dancer Our Guarantee: The above item is guarantee to be of the time period and condition as described, has been exported legally and is legal to buy and sell under all international lows to cultural patrimony. Western Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) Height 55 cm. The dancer wears long, tightly wrapped, layered robes that accentuate the slender profile of her curved body as she bends forward in a moment of the dance. The robes flare at the base exposing one shoe in front and are hiked up in the back in a graceful arch, while the empty ends of the full sleeves are flung outwards in sharp angles. Her face is modelled with strong, intent features, and her hair is parted in the middle and combed back in a looped knot. There are remains of white, pink, red and black pigment. Auction result comparison: Compare with a closely related pottery dancer at Christies New York in Fine Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art part I, 17 - 18 March 2016, lot 1473, sold for USD $37,500. Condition: Wear consisted with the age, scratches, some imperfections. The red colour on the sleeves and the pink colour of the face seems to be retouched or restored. Back of the head seems to be restored. Furthermore, for its age very good condition. Restorations are very normal for authentic and genuine pottery objects. Please be advised that the item is ca. 2000 years old. The present dancing lady as all tomb figures was made in mold, of earthenware covered with slip and painted. Most of the pottery items are coming from very wet tombs with a lot of water and moisture inside. Therefore, most of the items from those tombs lost their colour and the colours have been restored. - Scientific Report for the pottery dancer: – The results of thermoluminescence tests are consistent with the dating of this object, Han dynasty, ca. 2020 years old. - Extra test: Pre-dose test has been done Pre-dose test confirms old firing without any artificial x-ray treatments! - Provenance: Property of a Dutch gentleman; acquired 1980s-1990s - A Certificate of Authenticity from Becker Antiques (specialist in Chinese pottery since 1969, Amsterdam) will accompany the item. - All items legal to buy/sell under The Netherlands covering cultural patrimony and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
