Ancient Chinese Liao Dynasty Terracotta Tablet Tsa-Tsa (No Reserve Price)
A beautiful ancient Chinese terracotta votive tablet known as tsa-tsa, made during the Liao dynasty around 916-1125 CE. The sculpture shows the Buddha with his two attendants. The characters are very detailed, they sit on thrones with lotus flowers behind them, everything is enclosed in a great-looking triangular form. It is a unique religious artifact used to worship and enhance the importance and spiritual power of the temple. The tablets were buried or placed in reliquary chambers.
