Interestingly, this coin commemorates Brutus’ ancestor L. Junius Brutus, who in 509 BC, initiated the conspiracy to overthrow the last King of Rome – Tarquin. The reverse honours Gaius Servilius Ahala who assassinated Spurius Maelius in 349 BC, to stop his tyrannical plans to become king. Later, in 44 BC, Brutus himself would ignite a conspiracy to end the reign of Julius Caesar.
