Ancient Egyptian Bronze Large Atef Crown, Half Life Size

Hollow cast, the frontal Uraeus with four recessed inlaid panels in its neck, its tail uncoiling vertically towards the knob tip of the white crown, the side plumes with diagonal recessed panels, some with inlay remaining, some traces of gilding. The meaning of the word Atef is disputed. It may mean "his might" or "his terror”. The crown is associated particularly with the gods Osiris and Heryshef, but can also be worn by Horus and Re in their various forms.
