Double statuette of a moneky. Limestone with traces of original red paint. Ancient Egyptian Late period, 664-323 B. C. 54 mm H. CONDITION: Good Condition, see photos. PROVENANCE: "The Heritage collection". That collection of over 500 egyptian objets was adquired by a french gentleman who lived in Cario on a public high functions between the two world wars (1914-1945) , that piece was bought in Egypt prior to 1945. His heritage was dispersed by this heirs in 2022. DOCUMENTS: Provided of a certificate of authenticity and export license by the Ministry of Culture. The baboon is probably most well-known as a manifestation of the moon god Thoth. In this role, Thoth took on the position as 'god of the scribes' (as mentioned previously) , being associated with various subjects such as writing, science, judgement, knowledge and the afterlife.
