Ancient Greek Bronze Dancing Silenus - 9×0×0 cm - (1)

[ translate ]

Bronze full cast of a dancing bearded Silenus, depicted naked and in an aroused state. A band that runs from the forehead over the pointed ears to the back of the head adorns the head, which has a smooth surface with a mounting hole. Upper body tilted to the left and arms stretched next to the hip. Left leg is stretched forward and the right angled to the back with mounting holes on the feet. This gives the figure an energetic pose. The anatomy of the body is processed in great detail. It is most likely part of a Dionysiac scenery on a large bronze vessel. Condition: Both calves with slight traces of corrosion, the toes of the left foot at the fixing hole broken. At the back the spout hole. Otherwise, the figure is in very good condition with a beautiful green patina. Provenance: 1995 from the German art trade, before that German private collection of the 50s. Proof of origin at Catawiki. Important information: The seller guarantees, that this object has been acquired legally. The seller will ensure that the necessary documents are provided. The seller will inform the buyer if this should take more than 2 days.
