Ancient Greek Ceramic Daunian Kyathos, 550 - 500 B.C.

Greek Daunian Bichrome Kyathos, Sub. Geometric II, 550 - 500 B. C. globular biconal body, thin horizontal rim, and oversized loop handle. The hand-made, buff-colored terracotta vessel shows red brown and dark blue bands, and is ornamented with bands of geometric decoration called listati. Complete and intact, with original polychromatic design (not re-painted) . Height to handle: 9. 4 cm. (3. 7") Height to rim: 6. 2 cm. (2. 4") Width (rim edge to rim edge) : 11. 6 cm. (4. 5") Provenance: private U. S. collection, acquired from U. K. antiquities and ancient coins dealer in 2018; formerly private U. K. collection, acquired antiquities fair in Belgium 1993 - 1997.
