Antique Greece, Attic approx. 5th / 4th B C, height 5 cm, length 18 cm, diameter 10 cm; a fine blackware skyphos (drinking cup) , vessel with gradually expanding walls, a deep body with a thin edge and a pair of horizontal handles. Everything is carried by a ring foot, which is coloured red on the outside and decorated with a black circle in the middle. Other than that, the vessel is covered with a deep black glossy glaze. A wonderful drinking vessel with monochromatic representation. Condition: Three shards re-inserted on the edge, otherwise intact. Provenance: 1993 from the German art trade, before that, German private collection of the 30s/50s. Proof of origin at Catawiki.
