The lid decorated with the heads of two ladies of fashion, flanked by large palmettes, the knob decorated with a rosette. CULTURE: Magna Graecia, Apulia. PERIOD: 4th century BC MATERIAL: Pottery DIMENSIONS: Height 13 cm, Diameter 13 cm and 19 cm handle to handle. PROVENANCE: Private collection, L. Benguerel, Barcleona, 1960 - 1990. CONDITION: Intact, only a handle rejoined (see photo) . South Italic, ca. 350 B. C. , from the ancient Greek colony of Apulia. Terracotta lidded pottery vessel with footed base, dome-shaped lid and knob handle. Lid painted in red-figure style with series of two Lady of Fashion in profile and two palmette panels. The Lekanis was used in antiquity to store soaps and scented perfumes. Notes: - The piece includes authenticity certificate. - The piece includes Spanish Export License (Passport for European Union) . - According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subject to export taxes and will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense.
