Figure of the god Eros Greek, Hellenism, 4th - 3rd Century BC Terracotta Height 12 cm PROVENANCE: Private collection, France. Judiciary liquidation of the gallery "La Reine Margot", Paris. Published at the exhibition "EROS dans l'Antiquité" at Galerie La Reine Margot, Paris, 2013. CONDITION: Left wind is restored, right wind and head re-attached. Some repairs on the back side. Eros was one of the primordial gods of Ancient Greece. He was the god of sexual attraction and love and also worshipped as the god of fertility. In some myths he was the son of Aphrodite and Ares, but according to Plato’s The Banquet, he was conceived by Poros (plenty) and Penia (poverty) on the occasion of the birthday of Aphrodite. This explained the different aspects of love. Notes: The piece includes authenticity certificate.
