a) old Greece, Athens, Attica, approx. 5th to the beginning of the 4th century B C, Height 8. 5 cm Diameter 10 cm Length 15 cm A fine wheel ceramic skyphos (cup for drinking wine) with an inverted bell-shaped body, a deep basin, a thin, slightly outward curved edge and a pair of handles that form a concave line to the body, all on a penetrated base. The exterior and the interior of the vessel are covered with a rich black glaze except for the areas below the foot, Condition: Composed of six fragments, two small fragments added. Antique Greece, Attic approx. 5th century B C, height 5 cm, length 18 cm, diameter 10 cm A fine blackware skyphos (drinking cup) , vessel with gradually expanding walls, a deep body with a thin edge and a pair of horizontal handles. Everything is carried by a ring foot, which is coloured red on the outside and decorated with a black circle in the middle. Other than that, the vessel is covered with a deep black glossy glaze. A wonderful drinking vessel with monochromatic representation. Condition: Three shards re-inserted on the edge, otherwise intact. Provenance: 1993 from the German art trade, before that, German private collection of the 30s/50s. Proof of origin at Catawiki.
