Ancient Holy Land Pottery Pitcher

Near East / Holy Land, Iron Age, ca. 300 BCE to 200 CE. An elegant utilitarian pottery vessel made for wine or water, wheel thrown and with a bulbous body. The vessel stands atop a wide disc foot and narrows at the neck to form a small, flared spout designed to catch any drops of precious liquid. A strap handle is attached at the neck and shoulder. Size: 5" in diameter x 7.5" H (12.7 cm x 19 cm)

Provenance: ex-Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, acquired before 2000
