Ancient Khmer Bronze Hand Mirror

Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer Empire (Angkor culture), ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A bronze Khmer mirror, its surface no longer highly polished as it would have been when made, but now with a beautiful patina. Mirrors like this were often used in magic rituals, on altars, to inspire the viewer to reflect on the inner nature of things. It features a perfect circular form and a recessed side with concentric incised circles tracing the border. Bronze objects like this one were signs of prestige, owned by the wealthy and elite in Khmer society. Size: 6.45" W x 0.25" H (16.4 cm x 0.6 cm)
