Ancient Near Eastern Early Bronze Age Stone Bust

Ancient Near East, Syria, Early Bronze Age, ca. 4th to 3rd millennium BCE. A fascinating black stone bust of a male presenting with sloped shoulders draped in a thick collar and a mantle atop an elaborate tunic as he gently bows forth his head. Minimalist yet expressive, his visage is comprised of target-motif eyes, a petite nose, and an incised mouth with down-turned corners, all crowned by a row of vertical striations, likely representing hair. Size: 1.9" W x 2.3" H (4.8 cm x 5.8 cm)

Condition Report: A few nicks and scratches, as well as abrasions to verso. Otherwise, intact and excellent with nicely preserved detail. Previous owner had fitting made to wear as pendant, but could be removed.
