Ancient Near Eastern Terracotta Ram
Ancient Near East, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A really delightful ceramic ram, hand-modeled into a sturdy form with four nub-like legs, a thick body, and a proud head atop a muscular neck. The texture of the fleece is amazing! The curved horns emphasize the symbolism of the ram - virility and strength. This votive figure may have been kept in a home altar or given as an offering at a local temple. Size: 3.75" W x 3.2" H (9.5 cm x 8.1 cm)
