Ancient Persian Bronze Bottle with Bird Stopper

Western Asia, Persia, ca. first half of 1st millennium BCE. A delightful cast bronze bottle with a spherical body adorned by a raised band around its center, a trio of anthropomorphic legs, a long neck with a flared, flat rim, and a rooster-shaped stopper with a large crest and dramatic tail feathers. A delicate curved handle attaches at the rim and the base of the neck. The stopper fits neatly into the neck of the vessel. Size with lid: 1.75" W x 4" H (4.4 cm x 10.2 cm)
