Ancient Roman Bronze Legionary Bronze Brooch shaped as a Lion the Symbol of IVth Legion ''Flavia Felix'' Legio quarta Flavia Felix ("Lucky Flavian Fourth Legion") , was a legion of the Imperial Roman army founded in AD 70 by the emperor Vespasian (r. 69–79 AD) from the cadre of the disbanded Legio IV Macedonica because they took the side of the Emperor Vitelius in the Civil war of 69 AD. The legion was active in Moesia Superior in the first half of the 5th century. The legion symbol was a lion. The pin is missing, otherwise very well preserved with a nice natural brownish and dark patina. Extremely rare. Size: 3cm. Purchased by the current owner in 2014 in Austria, Wien.
