Ancient Roman Bronze Figure of a Mercury (Hermes) , wearing a winged hat- petasus and a purse in his right hand ( as a god of trade, heraldry, merchants, commerce, roads, sports, travelers) and Caduceus also a fluttering chiton in the left. Masterfully made from the skillfully ancient hand with a fine and exquisite and wonderful style, elegant movement (not static!) and with perfect proportions. The figurines of Mercury are probably one of the most common in the antiquity but they are really rare in this beautifull style balanced proportions. Right foot is broken in antiquity, otherwise with a lovely olive green smooth natural patina and almost Intact. Size: 12,5cm. Item No. M81 Purchased by the current owner in 2011 in Austria, Wien from Collector fair. Collected Since: 1970's. Previous owners history: Old Austrian Private Collection.
