Ancient Roman Bronze Oil Lamp with a Frontal male Portrait as a Cap and two Nozzles. Portraits characteristic but also the style dated this small but very elegant and luxury item to Julio-Claudian period and in particular to the rule of Octavian Augustus. Masterfully decorated handle ending with a leaf and nozzles as if wrapped in floral motifs, elegant curves giving the optimal aestetical shape making this ancient roman oil lamp a beautiful example of beauty and style combined with practicality. The Cap with the males portrait is disconnected (because of the rotting of the iron connection) , otherwise almost intact wit nice dark natural patina. Extremely rare! Material: Bronze Date: Late 1st. Century BC.
