Ancient Roman Gold Hoop Earrings - Wearable

[ translate ]

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine pair of earrings fashioned from 78% gold (equivalent to 18K+) with slender wire bodies. Each earring has a slender terminal on one end that coils around the twisted loop formed on the opposite end. Petite central hemispherical appliques create a stud-like presentation to this sumptuous pair. A modern, gold-filled jump ring enables each earring to be suspended from the bottom of a modern 14K gold-plated sterling silver ear wire for wearability. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 0.23" W x 0.51" H (0.6 cm x 1.3 cm); 1" H (2.5 cm) with attached ear wires; gold quality: 78% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 1.1 grams

Provenance: ex-private New York City, New York, USA collection, acquired on the London Market before 2010

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
