Ancient Russian Finno-Ugric Bronze Penannular Brooch

Northern Europe / Central Asia, Finno-Ugric culture, ca. 5th to 11th century CE. A cast-bronze penannular brooch with a pair of triangular lateral panels connected via a central suspension ring. A narrow pin wrapped around the ring would hook between the two triangles in order to hold the brooch in place, and eight suspension rings along the periphery would have held dangling chains. Raised stippling across both panels create interesting linear motifs, and the entire accessory is covered in mottled green and brown patina. Size: 1.75" W x 2.3" H (4.4 cm x 5.8 cm).

Condition Report: Repair to central ring, with resurfacing along break lines; pin is likely not original to the brooch. Slight bending to overall form of lateral panels and central ring, with light encrustations, and softening to some raised details. Nice earthen deposits and mottled patina throughout.
