Ancient Valdivian Spondylus Shell Bar Necklace

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian people, Earliest Horizon, ca. 2300 to 2000 BCE. A gorgeous necklace comprised of twenty-five petite disc-shaped beads made from orange- and pink-hued spondylus shell fragments. The beads are displayed within a bar-shaped setting, with two small lateral loops holding either end of a slender sterling silver chain and lobster clasp. Strung in modern times, this is a beautiful and certainly wearable example of the coalescence between ancient art and modern fashion! Size: 9.25" L (23.5 cm); grade of sterling silver: 92.5% or higher.
