Precious and refined hand-embroidered double bed sheet, from monastic art. Convent of cloistered nuns, southern Italy.
It has no pillowcases, dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The sheet has 2 joining seams as was customary in ancient times. From a private collection, never used, has conservation stains, easily removable with simple washing, as shown in the photograph.
Shadow stitch, satin stitch, satin stitch, in pure and very light cotton
Milky white colour.
