In 1985 the Cincinnati Art Museum commissioned Andy Warhol to produce a portrait of Pete Rose to commemorate his then-pending setting of Major League Baseball's all-time hit record. The commissioned painting was accompanied by fifty signed prints, which the museum sold to cover the cost of the portrait. The print on offer is from this edition and was purchased by the consignor from the museum.
