Anonimo (17/18th Century) - Alessandro Magno e Campapse nello studio di Apelle

A beautiful and unique painting, oil on canvas. It depicts Alexander the Great in the studio of Apelle, the greatest living painter at the time, who is painting the portrait of Campapse. Pliny the Elder tells how, by painting the nude of Campapse, “the most beautiful mistress of Alexander”, the painted fell in love with her. The king was so satisfied by the painting that he gifted the model to him. Subject also painted by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. The painting is from the 1600, of Italian school, from a private collection. Most likely a masterpiece. The picture has been restored by a professional, the technical documents issued by the restorer with all the phases and analysis of the restoration are attached (photos before and after restoration, details about the interventions) .
